Founded by architect Samantha Birtles, Se Déa is a full-service design studio specialising in high-end residential architecture and interiors. Since 2020, we’ve worked with private clients across Sydney, Byron Bay, the Gold Coast and beyond to create intentional, cohesive, and personal homes.

We work with our clients from conceptualisation to final furnishing, bringing clarity and direction to every stage of the design process. Our work balances beauty with practicality, delivering elevated and deeply livable homes.

  • Director & Founder, Registered Architect

    Samantha’s design journey began almost two decades ago and included significant roles at some of Australia’s most respected architecture and interior design studios. Her career has encompassed a wide range of work, from large-scale hospitality and commercial projects to international and high-end residential commissions, and even complex appearances before the Land and Environment Court. This breadth of experience sharpened her ability to balance creative vision with technical precision, and instilled the meticulous approach to detail that defines her practice today.

    In 2020, Samantha established Se Déa, a studio devoted to creating homes of depth and distinction. Guided by her philosophy of balancing rigour with warmth, the practice has become recognised for its considered and layered approach, delivering projects that feel both timeless and deeply individual. Her work has been featured in leading publications including Vogue Living and Architectural Digest Germany.

    Samantha’s work has been recognised across the industry, winning House & Garden’s Rising Star of the Year (2023), and earning nominations as Belle’s Emerging Design Star of the Year (2023) and IDEA’s Emerging Designer of the Year(2024).

    Today, Samantha continues to evolve Se Déa with a distinctive design language that is instantly recognisable yet never stylistically fixed. A practice where beauty and integrity meet, and each home is crafted with depth, precision, and enduring character.


  • Project and Client Manager

    Aimee has been with Se Déa almost since its inception and plays an integral role in the way our projects are delivered. As Project and Client Manager, she works closely with Samantha to guide each project with organisation, dedication and care. With her kind and trustworthy nature, Aimee has built strong relationships with builders, consultants, contractors and clients alike, her calm presence and clear communication earning their trust time and again. With a background in interior design and a refined sense of style, she brings both aesthetic sensibility and meticulous organisation to the studio, ensuring every detail is thoughtfully managed.
